Tromans/Trowmans of rowly regis?
« on: Friday 23 October 09 11:33 UTC (UK) »

Hi
I have found so many Tromans/Trowmans in one area I am having difficulty connecting the dots.  Any help would be appreciated.

I have a Thomas Trowmans abt. 1778 according to 1841 census he is not born in county of worcestershire, however, born in scotland, ireland or foreign parts is ticked on the census.  He is married to Nancy Hackett (not 100% on surname).

Any help with this family will be something, I was hoping to find a connection to other Trowmans in the area, they mostly seem to be Jewish, but cannot connect them as of yet.

thanks

hi lolly as jacquelineve says the bcc site is proberly the best in the black country for the family tree if your family not on it try this site

http://www.genealogyforum.co.uk/forum/index.php

as thats where all the research is done for bcc we know about the tromans from wales but never needed to go there but if you have hacketts as well then your 99% looking for a black country connection as there are two local surnames belonging to the black country, hope this helps, pete

Thanks you all

peterjd - I think they are born Staffordshire thank you for bringing this to my attention.

I have not found any in wales yet, I am not officially related to this line, i am doing it on behalf of my partners Step mother, she currently resides in Cornwall, however, all her family are still in the Wolverhampton area.

I am hoping to get more info off them soon, fingers crossed.

thanks again all who responded

Hi
The tick in the final column of the 1841 census does not mean foreign parts in this case. Some office worker has gone through and ticked all the people not born in county - compiling statistics I suppose. So it just means not born in Worcestershire.

There is Thomas Trowmans in the 1851 census, born 1778, Worcestershire, New Town. That seems to indicate Dudley since it says Worcestershire. Seems to be the same person as Benjamin, Eliza and Thomas Trowmans who are with him in 1841 are in the next household.

So that is a bit inconclusive for birth Roll Eyes
