General question re dress uniform photo's

Hello all!  I am wondering if it was a common practice for all soldiers of all ranks to have their photo taken, while in their dress uniform?  I have, like most people, alot of soldiers from various wars and thought it would be a great memory keeper to have a photo of all the men/women in their dress uniform.  This, is of course, proving to be a problem in locating such pics!!

What are your thoughts?
