A possible twin but not on the 1901 census
« on: Friday 23 October 09 21:21 UTC (UK) »

Hi

I think one of my ancestors might have had twins born in Bloxwich as I found an entry for two babies in 1892, though different ending reference number [BLX/045/012 versus BLX/045/002]. I can find one of these babies on the 1901 census with my g-g- Grandma but not the other and cannot find her on any census anywhere.  And on FreeBMD and West Midlands BMD I cannot find a death record for her either.

Would the slightly different reference suggest these are not twins? Though I think it likely she was a twin as my ancestral line was the only one living in the area at the time as far as I know.

Can anyone offer a suggestion for finding a death record for her?

Thanks in advance...

I doubt they were twins, occasionally twins have a different reference number but only by 1 page, if the page the name of the first twin was written on was full, so if yours were twins, the references would either be the same or BLX/045/002 and 003 (or 001).

If you give us a name, someone may be able to find the missing child in a census, or a death.

Hello

Olive Bertha Beeson was registered in the first quarter of 1892 at Walsall. The GRO reference is 6b 690

Keziah Beeston was registered in the second quarter of 1892 at Walsall. The GRO reference is 6b 707

They were not twins and not from the same family.

Thank you Lizzie and posteria. Sorry should have said the names: yes those are the ones. Thanks for the information, and your look ups. So Walsall BMD have got the surname wrong in their database for Olive....Beeston when should have been Beeson. I found her under Beeson after all on FreeBMD.....had not thought to try that Wink

Thanks Smiley

I thought that twins had the time of birth recorded on the certificate. Did this apply at the time?
