Does anyone have any information at all regarding Ellen Thomas who was born in Llanfairfechan in 1822 and who married my great, great grandfather John Jones. b 1802.  She was John's 2nd marriage and i have not found out who his first wife was, but he married Ellen in 1851 when they were living at Marl Smithy Llanrhos and he was a blacksmith employing 2 apprentices, one of wom could have been Ellen's brother David Thomas aged 20.

Do you have a copy of their marriage cert showing who Ellen's father was and his occupation?

Did they marry before or after the 1851 census as I cannot find an 1851 marriage for this couple on freebmd

Hello CaroleW,

There is a baptism on Freereg as follows:

Llanfairfechan, 03/03/1822, Elin Jones THOMAS, daughter of John and Mary THOMAS. Mother's maiden name was William.

This couple also baptised children at the same church as follows:

12/03/1820 John
11/07/1824 Anne (this time mother's surname shown as Thomas, I take it this is her married name).
18/03/1826 Mary (mother's maiden name WILLIAMS).
10/08/1828 William. Mother's maiden name WILLIAMS.
04/07/1830 William.
25/09/1832 Richard.

This is not exhaustive

There were other couples by the name of THOMAS baptising children in Llanfairfechan in that period.

Hello again,

I noticed that on the 1861 census, there is a daughter shown by the name of Elizabeth, aged 12, born Llanfairfechan.

This predates the marriage of John and Ellen from what you have said.

There is one Elizabeth JONES born Llanfairfechan on the 1851 and she is with her grandparents in Llanfairfechan. I will see if I can find more.

Could Elizabeth have been from his first marriage?

The 1851 census shows Ellen Thomas b 1822 Llanfairfechan working as a servant  for John Jones

John Jones 49 widower blacksmith employing 2 men b Eglwys Rhos
David Thomas 20 apprentice Eglwys Rhos
John Roberts 18 apprentice Eglwys Rhos
Ellen Thomas 29 servant b Llanfairfechan

Hello again,

There is a baptism for John JONES in Llan- Rhos (Eglwys Rhos) on 14/03/1802, son of Richard and Anne JONES.

Another John JONES appears, son of John and Anne JONES, baptised 29/08/1802 in Llan Rhos ( Eglwys Rhos).

There is also a baptism for Thomas JONES there in 16/06/1805, son of John and Anne JONES.

I cannot find a marriage for John JONES and Mary Huh up to now.
