Aramoho Cemetery - Wanganui headstone photo please
« on: Saturday 24 October 09 21:49 UTC (UK) »

Hi There,

Is there anyone that can have a look for a headstone at Aramoho Cemetery in Wanganui.

The name is William WAITE and Louisa Hannah WAITE.
William died 1961 and Louisa died 1959

I do not have an excat date or are of the cemetery

I think this is my William who was 81 when he died born abt  1880
William was born 1879 so this is the closest one I can find.

Thank you for your help

Regards

I now have some info from the cemetery sexton

Louisa Hannah Waite buried Aramoho 19-12-1959 in blk M row 4 plot 228.

William Waite buried Aramoho 7-10-1961 public lawn B row 5 plot 336.

I don't have death date recorded.

When you want someone to have a 'look' at those gravesites, what is it exactly you want to know? Is it a photo you want?

After I saw your request I visited Aramoho Cemetery.
Finding William Waite was pretty easy. The gravestone obviously has had some good care recently from someone.
I couldn't locate Louisa Waite's plot...but it was getting dark and that section isn't well-marked. ( There wasn't anyone around I could ask.) I have a basic map but it doesn't give fine detail.
Anyway, I've enclosed a photo of William's gravesite. Hope that's a start.
I could have another try for Louisa, but it might be a day or so before I get close again.

Thank you so much for the photo

Maybe see if the sexton can help locate Louisa Hannah Waite's

Yes there is family in Wanganui but I do not know them. I am in the process of trying to find out more info when I can

When I get the chance to get back, I will ask and it should be easily found. (Whether it can be easily read is another question...some aren't in good condition). I have the plot details.
(Don't get the idea I frequent cemeteries! We just felt like a drive somewhere and 'Aramoho' stood out when I was browsing earlier.) It was also a bit of 'kama' payback for a bit of help someone in here had given me earlier in the day.
There are Waites around Wanganui all right. I used to work with one many years ago, but I can't recall his name right now.
There are three Waite's in the phone book.
*RJ & EV Waite .. 06 345 7109
*R & A Waite     .. 06 348 8299
*TJ Waite          .. 06 347 7333
A phone call might save you a lot of work somewhere along the line. (I'd try them in the order I've given them. (Don't ask why)

Cheers

I know what you mean as I have also found some are eay to read and others are not (headstones that is).

I have the name of William and Louisa Waite's nephew  and have written a letter to him as he lives in Wanganui. But it is another story if I get a reply or not
