Hello Kev

I think the problem is going to be Rebecca's surname,I've a feeling it's been mis-transcribed!!

Kev
Re surname- very difficult,I have come across some really wierd mis-transcriptions!!
Do you have any more info! eg.childrens names or were Sam + Reb.still around by the time of 1841 census?
(possible that the marriage is not the correct one)

This marriage would probably have been at St Mary's Kidderminster.

Hi,

I checked the St Mary's parish records today and it's definitely Lanibut. The handwriting was very clear.

The full transcript is

Samuel Townshend of the parish of Kidderminster and Rebecca Lanibut of the same parish were married in this church by license on 7th April 1799.

Both made their mark in the register. The witnesses were Thomas Whitend and Lucy Rawlins.

There were no other Samuel Townshends marrying in Worcestershire around that time.
