HARRISON Family of Cookley Village
« on: Sunday 25 October 09 05:17 UTC (UK) »

Hi, I am hoping that someone can assist in locating parish record details or similar for my G/G/G Grandfather, Jospeh HARRISON born 1814 (abt) Leicester, Married Mary, perhaps 1838 of Market Bosworth?Huh. However possible mother is Louisa born 1791 (abt) Kidderminster. Joesph lived in Cookley and owned a Wire and Nail Factory until 1892. He died in 1907 aged 93 residing at Blue Ball Caunsall. I would like to trace my family line back further and know Joesph's parents and location. There seems to be a strong connection with Kidderminster area. Many Regards Jason Harrison, New South Wales, Australia.

Once again thanks for the great information. I have also looked in to the suggestion for Mary Perrins as a spouse for Joseph Harrison, However not sure that she is the correct one as the 1841 census lists his wife as Mary HARRISON, and the marriage to Perrins is dated 1842, also the Mary Perrins surname continues right on through to 1871, so it might be a different Mary married earlier. Thanks Jason.

Hello Jason
This is who I thought were your Harrisons in 1841..
1841 Kidderminster
HARRISON
Louisa      50     shopkeeper
JOSEPH    25     wood (cutter or sorter-diificult to read)
George    20
Louisa      15
John         14
Frederick  12
Alfred         9
(Alfred only one born in county)
Re.1841 census ages rounded down to nearest 5 yrs

Jackie
ps did find George in later census-states born Leicester

Jason

A possible baptism...Charles Harrison 23April 1786 at Loughborough Leicester-parents William + Mary.We don't know for sure if
Charles was born at Leicester.I would have felt a little happier if there had been a Wlm or Mary amongst Charl's children, but still, not
always the case.
Two of Louisa's brothers Isaac +Charles are living at Leicester 1841+1851 cens. born Hertford.+a sister Caroline appears to
have wed at the same church.
May be well worth asking on the Leicestershire board, if anyone is visiting Leics.record office, would they mind looking at the
marriage for Charles +Louisa, you have date + church.Their fathers names probably won't be recorded(pre 1837) but sometimes the
witnesses can be of help, especially if siblings.

Will get back to you as soon as I find anything.

Jackie, thank you so very much for all your fantastic help, I really mean it, you have answered and confirmed more for me in the past 2 days than I have achieved in the past couple of years researching my history part time when time and energy permitted. Thank you for the 1851 census records listing Louisa and Frederick, I did not have these details. I assume the other siblings are listed also??? I will take your suggestions and request assistance on the Leicester link, many thanks Jason
