Langs of Arvagh

I have a copy of a marriage certificate dated 1865 (attached) between James Lang
and Jane Lang in Arva.  James' residence was Castlepoles but Jane's appears to be
Bahagi.  Does anyone know this place? I thought it might be Irish for Behey as I am
trying to trace Jane's family.  Any help would be graefully received.  Shirley

hi shirley
quite interesting to note that behy is only 1km from castlepoles as the crow flys. and that also according to the 1911 census there are langs in behy.
can't seem to find anywhere a translation for behy, but i'm very much behind your judgement on that one. considering that people in a parish, when getting married at that time were generally not from to far from one another.
One suggestion would be to take a look at other entries on the record, and see if the same person has written behy or bahagi elsewhere.

just at a second look, could that be bahagh, which would sound more right, just that the "i" at the end looks awfully like the 1st h, and it could be just a bad print or slip of the pen?

Hi, Pete,  Thanks for the suggestions.  Frustrating, isn't it?  I shall carry on digging.
It is what makes Irish genealogy so fascinating.  I'm just trying to prove which
branch Jane came from, and if she is one of my Langs or not.  Thank you for replying.
