St Benedicts, Cambridge PR's E'beth Boutle
« on: Sunday 25 October 09 12:43 UTC (UK) »

Hi

I have the banns at Trumpington for Elizabeth Boutle of St Benedicts, Cambridge and James Neaves of Trumpington 28th December 1784.  Could someone please look up the marriage at St Benedicts please.

Many thanks

No such marriage shown in St Benedicts in Phillimore's Marriage index

There's an Elizabeth Boutall married Squire Miller on 21 Oct 1766 at St Benedicts. Perhaps the marriage to James Neaves didn't take place

Thank you again David  Grin

James first child John was christened at Trumpington 20th December 1795 parents James and Elizabeth. Elizabeth died at Trumpington in 1838 so I have always assumed he married Elizabeth Boutle.  No children bn after 1814 so can't check with a birth certificate. I was just trying to tie up loose ends.

Thanks

Senior moment! Got the dates and parish confused. It was St Edwards, not St Benedicts in 1766, and obviously it can't be the same Elizabeth as it's 18 years too soon.

Sorry!

Thank you David - perhaps she is related to the other Elizabeth anyway.  I wonder if the banns were called and someone objected so they just lived together, anyones guess really but I appreciate the help.  Smiley

Or the banns were published in Trumpington and St Benedicts and they married in a third parish .... or they didn't marry at all and he married a different Elizabeth

Yes, the possibilities are endless - perhaps one day I will solve the mystery.

According to Boyds marriage index.

1795/  NEAVE  JAS / BOUTELL  ELZ/  CAMBRIDGE ST BENEDICT  /CAMBRIDGESHIRE

But another source has this.

James Neaves, single of the parish
Elizabeth Boutle of St. Benedict, Cambridge

28th December, 1794 - Trumpington

Hi Sue

Thank you, I have the Trumpington date as banns, so from Boyds it looks as though they married at St Benedicts probably early in 1795. At least I know it happened.  Grin
They are my 4 x gt grandparents.

Much appreciated
