1901 lookup, Riches

Hi there,

I am looking for 3 brothers and their mother in 1901, so far no trace

Ethelinda (in 1891, her name is Ester) Riches b. 1841 in Tasburgh, Depwade. Have traced her up til 1891 and have found her death in 1920 in Norwich but nothing in between

She had 4 Illigitimate children as she never married. I have traced her daughter Laura Riches b. 1868, but she had 3 boys who I cant find either!!

William b. 1871 (cant find him in 1891 either!!) , Alfred b. 1873 and Frederick b. 1877 (have found these on 1891) All children born in Henstead according to bmd and Saxlingham according to ancestry records

Any help would be lovely

If I could just add to the first post,

I cant find Ethelinda's brother Henry at all past 1841. He was born 1827 in Tasburgh to Robert and Charlotte Riches

Any help would be great, thanks

If you look for Ethel Kicker in 1901, I believe she is a servant, aged 62.

RG13/1853; Folio 71, Page 5.

I found that record this morning but there is no viable marriage record on free bmd, if I remember rightly all the places and dates were out!!

Have you checked how many people by the name of William Riches were born in that area during that time scale Danielle ??

Got there in the end, one on 1871 and the other in 1876 ??

The one I gave claims to be born in Saxlingham, 1873 ??  Undecided

You didn't mention Frederick, according to the 1891 census was born in Swainsthorpe, not Saxlingham !  Cry Grin

With very many thanks to Gadget for 1911 information which has enabled these to be found, this appears to be Alfred's marriage in 1905 :

Danielle, did you notice when you looked at the 1901 census results for William Riches and Helen, there's a big difference between the ages of the children.

Helen, their daughter was aged 8, baby William was only 11 months ??

I can't find a marriage either for this couple, but that was going on the approximate birth year of their eldest child, but neither can I find a birth for their daughter. Unless she wasn't William's child .. and was registered in another name ??

Wonder if there's a later date for their marriage, if this makes sense ??

I did notice the age gap betweeen the children but I like I said, I couldn't find a viable marriage record so paid no attention really!!  Roll Eyes
I will look into the possibility of a previous marriage
