Need help (Stewart, Sunderland)
« on: Sunday 25 October 09 14:55 UTC (UK) »

Hi,

I've run into trouble trying to find one of my grt grt grandmothers on the 1851 and 1861 census and also her birth record. This is what I have:

Sarah Stewart (also occasionally Stuart / Steward) b. approx 1846/7

married John Hughes 29/06/1868 @St Michael Bishopwearmouth [on marriage cert given as full age and her father is James Stewart occupation Gas Maker, her address is 5 The Green]

1871 census with John Hughes, age of Sarah = 24
1881                                                             = 33
1891                                                             = 43
1901                                                             = 53
1911                                                             = 69 (?)

On the census she gives her birth location as Sunderland. I have not been able to trace her or her father on the earlier census, nor have I been able to find birth or death records. The spelling of her surname varies mostly as Stewart but her marriage record is listed as Steward whilst the birth certificate of her second child her maiden name is given as Stuart.

Any pointers really appreciated.

regards

Mark

It's a possibility, her first daughter was named Margaret - but I can't find her on 1851 census. The birth record is also interesting... thanks
