Titterington Bap request Poulton

Hello Smiley

I am trying to find the baptism of Alice Titterington, I think it should be in Poulton-le-Sands (Poulton, Bare and Torrisholme possibly called). It should be in 1806 or thereabouts.

Any help much appreciated

Is this the same Alice Titterington who is Aunt to and staying with Henry Townley in the 1881 Census ??

If it is, she was born in Morecambe according to the census

Morecambe is was Poulton le Sands   Grin

Nothing for her on the VRI or Lancashire  OPC's

Hi and thank you,

The 1881 census is the only place I have found anyone who could be her, yes. What I have is this : She is the daughter of William Titterington and Isabella Armistead. She appears to have had an illegitimate son, Henry, in 1830 who later is found living with Isabella and William. I don't know if Alice ever married.

One curious thing, in the 1851 census, living with William Armistead in Poulton, is a Henry Townley age is 14 then, kind of fits the Henry Townley my Alice (maybe) is living with in 1881.

Actually, I'm confused. How does it all fit together?

There is an Alice Titterington in the 41, 61, 71, census as a servant in various places in Lancashire. I think this may be her. Never married. Her birth seems to be between 1806-1812.

I wonder if Henry Townley's wife Elizabeth was an Armistead, this could help me with the Armistead Family links.

Ahh ok, I think I have it. Alice Titterington has an older sister, Rebecca, who married Adam Townley in 1822. Henry Townley is their son, hence Alice's nephew.

Still no record for Alice's birth / baptism Sad

Sister Rebecca was baptised March 7th 1802 at Holy Trinity Parish Church, Poulton le Sands. Father William Titterington abode Poulton.
There is an older daughter too - Mary - baptised Holy Trinity on March 23rd 1800. So far no trace of Alice though. Will do some more digging tonight as there are quite a few more children for William, and I think his baptism too. If you don't have Alice's birth, how do you know her parents' names?
