Mortons in Nottingham
« on: Sunday 25 October 09 17:53 UTC (UK) »

I am trying to find the parents or siblings of Annie Reba Morton who was born 1903 or 1904.  The place of birth may have been around Bulwell or Basford.  I can find no clues about her parents anywhere!  I have found a Frances Reba Morton in the 1901 and mentioned in the 1911 census (I don't have access to this other than the index) but I don't think this is a relative.

She is on FreeBMD

Birth

Ap/May/Jn 1903
Nottingham 7b 453
Annie Reba Morton

Her birth cert would give parents

Or 1911 might give her with parents (she may just be Annie of course on the census and thus harder to pinpoint, without knowing her parents names from the birth cert)

Hi

The Frances Reba Morton you referred to was also born in Bulwell, so could be a relation.

Frances Reba Morton to Thomas & Eliza Ann Morton 12.8.1891 at Bulwell, St Mary (Labourer)

Unusual middle name!

Thank you for that, it ties in the loose ends.  It seems Frances Reba was the younger sister of Thomas Alvin, father to Annie Reba.  So they were aunt and niece.  It's such an unusual name (Jewish I believe) that I thought there might be a connection with them living so close together.

I really appreciate the help, it's filled a big gap.  Now I've discovered that Annie Reba was probably illegitimate so I may be back to square one though!  I suppose it calls for a certificate this time to see who her parents really were...
