After another weekend away at the RO, and not wanting to have another performance of what I went through the last time! I had a better plan of attack.
This time, I went with the idea of going through each of the parishes I was interested in and writing down EVERYTHING that mentioned names that I am researching. Relevant or not, they could be discarded at a later date, better than another trip across the country, which would involve the wife tagging along and spending my money in Milton Keynes shopping centre while im at the RO!
6 A4 pages later I was in high spirits as I left the RO (unlike last time!), and thought id go through everything back at the hotel where I was staying. Couldnt face doing it straight away as my eyes has gone all boggley with the writing from those ancient registers.
I had managed to get baptisms/marriages/burials from Brampton Ash, Sutton Bassett, Weston by Welland, Cottingham cum Middleton and Wilbarston. Involving the names Stevenson (Including variants), Spriggs and Swingler.
But after entering all the records on the computer, how do I piece together a family from this messy jigsaw?
Can anyone help?
It did have a happy ending though, as we driving around parishes taking photos of churches and graves we stopped in a lovely pub in Sutton Bassett!

HI David.
Glad to hear that your visit was much more profitable this time.
To your dilemma, how have you entered the information.
Which software program have you used to file it all in.
Are you able to give an example of the problems for us at all.
Sandy

Hi Sandy,
On advice of another rootschatter, they recommended sorting all the records by marriage then baptisms/burials as it would make identifying correlations easier! But to my horror, I cant find a starting point!
I just typed it into basic notepad. Didnt do anything too flash.
AND WHATS THE IDEA OF THE RO MAKING ME USE A PENCIL!!! Grrrr! Me pages are smudging now

Hi again David.
If you want me to have a look at it for you I will put it into some kind of order, or help you to do so.
As to PENCILS it is to perserve records for future generations.
I take it you used the search room.
Our R.O. is much more lenient than many.
Some of them you have to wear gloves to look at typed transcriptions.
