Florence Farmborough - Marple 1978
« on: Monday 26 October 09 15:18 UTC (UK) »

Florence Farmborough was a famous World War One nurse who died in Marple in 1978.  Could anyone help me track down where she is buried?  Thanks in advance!

Is that the same Florence Farmborough that was a nurse in
Russian Red Cross? If so there should be no shortage of information in the Local newspapers orbits/articles on film.In the main library.Do bear in mind that because she died in 1978 she may have been cremated, which has been popular since the 1930's.I mention that because so many take it for granted that the deceased was buried Smiley so they will never find a burial for a Cremation.
Hope this is of some help

Celia

Yes it is!  I have her obit.  She lived for a large part of her life in Heswall just up the Wirral from me, but moved to Marple in her last years to be near her nephew.  I also have her diaries which are fascinating, but hold no clue of her final resting place.  I think I read somewhere that the cemetery for Marple is actually in Stockport, but not sure if this is true?
