Does anyone have the baptisms for St Mary, (which I believe is the church for Ysgeigiog).
I am looking for the baptism for Elinor/Ellen Davies bc 1801-1803.
I can't get any further with her and would appreciate any help.
Thanks very much,
regards,
sigrid

I checked Ysceifiog PR Transcripts for 1785/1800 and 1801/1812 and she is not there. The only Ellinor Davies in the later one is a mother.

Thanks very much for doing that. She was pretty certain that was where she came from. But obviously not!
Any suggestions as to how I can proceed now?

I suppose she could have been baptised in an adjoining parish , or they could they have been Non Com

I did a first name search on IGI for Ysgeifiog, and although I have nothing to substantiate it, there is a baptism for an Elinor Edwards, father Benjamin and mother Margaret Davies. I have a birth cert for Elinor's daughter and she said formerly Davies. I know this is probably putting two and two together foolishly, but I have often wondered if either Elinor/Ellen was married before or used another surname. Only two known children bc1838 and 1839. And no marriage found for her.
Or as you say, more likely she was from a neighbouring parish, or Non Com. She has lain dormant for so long I could scream, as I'm sure others can when they hit on a very stubborn long standing brick wall.
