Thanks for your reply and interest. I don't know when Harry was born, presumably about the same time as his wife (1877) and in the UK. Lewis could be Louis I suppose, and I think he was born in the USA approximately 1913. I suppose Douglas could be spelled Douglass. Fanny and Lewis visited the family in the UK in the 1920s. so should appear on some kind of passenger lists. I really have tried hard to find any record of these folk, my 97year old father wonders what became of his cousin Lewis. The last we heard was that they lived in Providence, Rhode Island in the 1950s. Sorry I really don't have any more information. Best wishes.

That Fanny Douglas left from Australia, so it doesn't look like it fits. She was a cook and going to live in Buckingham, England.

Jazgran here, thanks for your continued efforts. I can't find any trace of their marriage here in UK although I have searched the UK and Yorkshire lists.

Thanks to all who have been searching on my behalf. It confirms my feeling that this is a hard family to find. We know they exist/existed, but then I guess USA is a big place. Any further information or leads would be appreciated. Best wishes from Jazgran.

Hi Sue, thanks for your interest. Fanny (nee Broadbent) was born in Leeds in 1877. I do not know of Harry's origins. My father can't remember if they married in UK, but thinks that Lewis was born in USA. As far as we know there were no other children. Last known whereabouts was in the 1950s when Fanny's sister, Lily, visited them and sent us a picture postcard from Providence, Rhode Island, which is still in my possession. No clues as to address on the card. It has been said they owned a store/shop in Rhode Island. My father remembers that Harry was a Carpet Designer. Lewis had a son born approx. 1943, the only name we remember for him was "Buddy" which I guess is a nickname. My father, now aged almost 97, is the last of his generation, so there is no other source of information. Best wishes, Jazgran.
