I'm trying to find details of a John Melson born in England abt 1645 who went to Virginia I think on the headright system, he married Elizabeth Painter also believed to be from England in abt 1672 in America.

Any further info would be appreciated.

Hi,

Can you be a little more specific about what you want?  There are at least 20 trees on Worldconnect with this couple, some with purported ancestors, and at least one book on the Melson family in America.

  Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. What I'm really looking for is evidence of where in England they were born, who their parents were and if possible site of their names on a passenger list. It may be a tall order ...Smiley

The age on this student at Cambridge is very close to your John Melson.....if he entered the college at age 15 in 1665 it would put his birth date at 1650...also, it says his father is deceased and he was ordained by 1670...maybe he was more of a missionary to the new world than a part of the headright program....
