Llanion Cemetery Photo request COMPLETED
« on: Tuesday 27 October 09 00:49 UTC (UK) »

Hi

After years of searching I have found the grave of my G G G Grandfather Levi THOMAS in the Llanion Cemetery, he was  buried in Grave 349 Section P on 27/7/1913

The Pembrokeshire County Council  have advised that there is no memorial stone on the grave, however I am wondering if any Rootschatter who lives locally could take a photograph for me of the area of the cemetery where Levi is buried.

Regards

If my friend comes over on Sunday I will ask if she can take me there to get a photo for you. It is only about a quarter of a mile but I don't drive.

Do you know whereabouts in the cemetery it is?

Hi Lambkin

Thank you for your kind offer,

Sorry I do not know where the grave is in the cemetery, just the location that I found on the website "Section P grave 349"

I understand that without a headstone it would be hard to find the actual grave. If you could take a few snaps of the cemetery I would be very happy. It would be great to just see what the Cemetery looks like, some of our Cemeteries are wild and overgrown, while others are well kept, lawns mowed and weeds kept under control. I would be happy with any photos.

Hi Lambkin

I know I have a hide asking another favor,  the Council have told me that Levi died at 2 Bufferland Terrace Pembroke Dock.

I have looked at Google Street View, however it is not available in this area of Wales, I found the Terrace on Google Earth, and it does not look very far as the crow flys from the Cemetery. If it would not be an inconvenience for your friend do you think  it be possible to have a photo Levi's  home.

I have to return yet again (I'm going to pitch a tent there) to Llanion for my Military Headstone project so can take a general photo of the 'P' area, if some other kind soul has not already done so. Graves are not numbered and the Cemetery Map does not relate to the areas on the Ground, so it is extremely difficult to photograph an unmarked grave and be sure what one is recording.
Bufferland Terrace is up in Pennar, shall I call round there and get a Jpeg for you??

Vaughan's of Monkton
I note your interest in the Vaughan the Tailors of Monkton, have you looked at

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/PEM/Pemtax6.html
(You will probably recognise the author)

I have done previous research on the surname if you wish to have it also just let me know.
Have you photographed the Vaughan headstones at Monkton Cemetery? They are of course post 1860, those that survive are post 1896. I have to return there for Military headstones if you want them.
