Yes you're quite right Toni

It would also be sensible to presume that an enumerator may also actually put an address on the page  Roll Eyes

All it has is the City or Borough = Hamlet of Pinner and the Parish of Harrow.

HO107/657 Folio 6 Pg 5

Maybe it was a VERY small hamlet  Grin

To make matters worse I then found ANOTHER Richard Ginger who was buried St Marlebone Westminster 17 Jan 1814, aged 61. I know he can't be mine but he may have been the father of some of the older children.

This family is really beginning to annoy me  Lips Sealed

by definition a Hamlet should be less than 6 houses

the Richard Ginger buried in 1814 would have been born circa 1753 (if his age is correct)

i wonder if he could be your Richards father Huh of course without a positive bp. we have no idea

Richard Ginger of Queenhithe maybe a red herring but he disappears after 1800

the tithe map for Hounslow & Ealing is dated 1839 then the first edition of the ordance survey map is circa 1865 (although actually ordance survey began in 1850 and tithes in 1836)

there was a big estate there Gunnersby park

Thanks for all those links Toni.

I'll follow up on every one of them and see if I can find any relevant information. They all look very useful and informative as I haven't even seen a tithe map before.

Thanks for all your help - I really appreciate all the time you have spent with this rather frustrating family.

I'll post any further info if/when it comes to hand.

Many thanks

just a little bit of light reading for you!

Francis Frith may have photos but of course these would be later than the time your Gingers were living there.

Unless you find another Emma Ginger floating around born 1816/7 Harrow / HEston / Hounslow i would say the one you have belongs to you

Hi

This site seems to list several Ginger marriages from Phillimores marriage index.

http://www.angelfire.com/fl/Sumter/g.html

Unfortunately can't see any mention of a Richard Ginger

IHi all,

I have been following this with interest as I have been researching in Isleworth/Brentford (Clark), Greenwich (Clark & Rutter) and Harrow(Abbott) in the same time period you are looking.  Limited success with Clark & Rutter marriage and baptisms of their children at St Alfreges only.

DOn't feel so bad now considereing I live in Australia!!

will keep watching with interest.

good luck

Thanks for that Toni. The 1816/7 birth/Bp is the best we have so far and is most likely the right one but I'd like just a little more info or confirmation to prove it.

Thanks for the Ginger marriages Ammonite. I have that complete file on my computer and failed to check it  Roll Eyes
Thanks for the reminder.

Robyn - I can understand your frustrations with people from this area. At least the PR's are available which does make it slightly easier - but that's only if you find the information that you're looking for  Grin

Good luck (from one Aussie to another) with your Clark, Rutter and Abbott families.

the only other way to do it is to stop looking for proof that Emma belongs to you and start looking for proof that she doesnt
i.e. find her elsewhere

are there any other marriages for an Emma Ginger in the right time fame etc etc

To make matters worse I then found ANOTHER Richard Ginger who was buried St Marlebone Westminster 17 Jan 1814, aged 61. .

Could he be Richard of Queenhithe?

Burial = b. circa 1753

Richard Queenhithe = trading 1776-1800,

if they are the same one Richard of Queenhithe would be trading at aged 23 so that fits great.

i wonder if there was a Mrs Ginger at Queenhithe?

look at this map of Queenhithe i think no. 20 infact relates to the plot along the quay he had as a merchant -

he seemed to be trading in a lot of stuff.

you can work out where no. 20 is from the additons & corrections box in the right hand corner

and

queenhithe ward actually have a website just for them!
