Sometimes Publican wasnt the main point of employment - of course it was if they ran an inn but soemtimes farmers took the job on one the side whilst waittng for crops to grow during winter months etc to keep the money flowing, especially as they probably made cider from their apples before hand - probably not relevant.

i see a Richard Ginger yeoman in Edlesborough Bucks circa 1820

The London Baptism's don't show 10 children, only 5....to Richard and Mary...

The extra children are IGI submitted entries  Undecided

Toni - I also can't see Richard being a juror. Afterall, he didn't even sign his name when he was married - he was upstaged by his wife who could sign her name  Cheesy

Interesting about the James Martin but inconclusive at this stage.

It does appear that there were members of a Ginger family in Bucks - they were probably the Posh lot  Grin

(If we add 'em all together, do we get a Ginger Plant - LOL)

sorry - hysteria has crept in

That's actually interesting as it does appear that it was a mainly farming area in those days.
It's probably all houses as far as the eye can see these days!

Ok Di i breifly lookedon teh TNA site and found that Richard Ginger Yeoman of Bucks
i have now searched Ancestry and found Richard Ginger b. circa 1772 living in Eldesborough in 1841
(in fact he was chritened in 1774 son of Stainbridge Ginger)
thus he would not be the one who died in 1823

i didnt mean that Richard wouldnt be a juror because he couldnt write was a publcian etc i meant because of his age  Tongue

now from 1776-1800 there is a Richard Ginegr living at 20 Queenhithe - who is he ?

Oh well found Deb

I wish it said that he was a Publican though!!

I believe that Richard Ginger and Mary MARTEN were the parents of those extra 10 children as the marriage date fits well with their births - but I don't know if the extra kids from Emma down are theirs as well.

No contact details for the IGI submitted entries on IGI but Deb has confirmed a couple so looks like that are legit which is a bonus.

Marriage at St Luke, Old Street - possibly Mary's home parish  Undecided

Excellent - thanks Deb. Great to know that they were "real" entries.

Ohhh I didn't know that  Shocked

That's a winner!

so Eliza lists her father as Richard Ginger a cocahman,
coach and horses - pub ?

Mmmmm - coachman! Interesting. And it doesn't mention that he's deceased. As you said, it may help with the possible James Martin connection also.

Eliza would have been in her 50's by the time she married for the second time!
