Screen Size in RC
« on: Tuesday 27 October 09 10:32 UTC (UK) »

I've done something, don't know what, that has basically shrunk everything on the screen down in size in RC, fonts, images, everything.

Everything is normal size in other websites but not in RC. Using FF 3.5.3.

Ooops just worked it out. If you hold down the CTRL key and scroll up or down with the scroll wheel, everything on the screen increases or decreases in size. Back to normal now.

That's really spooky Ian - I just had the same problem, except that my text was huge!

You can also adjust the size by pulling down "view" on the menu bar and selecting 'text size'. (My daughter helped me with it  Wink)

Press Ctrl then + or - to restore screen to size you want.  That will work on any screen.

Here's another "I've done something, don't know what, ... " tip.

If you have a wheel mouse and you start fiddling with the wheel (and you don't notice that for elbow is resting on the <Ctrl>-key)  then the screen fonts will change sizes  Shocked

Doesn't even have to be an elbow - a book resting too near the keyboard,
a parents's "little helper" trying to be helpfull, etc, etc.

I  found that out a long time ago, but in that case it was my mouse.
I found if i pressed the mouse wheel down and turned it at the same time.forward made everything bigger, back made them smaller. It doesn't work with the one i have now.

I had a similar problem .... but didn't know what I did ....  my text was normal, but I lost the task bars on RC, and not on other sites.

It came right in the end .....

Well, it happened again .... don't know what happened, Huh  I was just in the process of using the asterisk key, when the screen went jumbo, task bars vanished.

I pressed the windows button and that brought up the bottom task bar, but the top bar, I had to hover the mouse over to bring it down and had the thought of clicking on the restore down button and with eyes closed   Grin hoped for the best ..... and presto it worked  Cheesy

Must be a gremlin on here who doesn't like me to post Grin

If you right-click on the task bar and then click on properties, you can set whether the task bar should disappear when you are not using it or stay fixed. Maybe some funny key combination changed the settings ?

Thanks Bob, could have been something that changed the keys.   I do know the first time just as I was going to post, the screen started jumping.

Main thing is its back to normal now.

Aha !!!

I sometimes get into trouble because I use certain programs at work continously and I've got used to the most common key combinations.  Then I use them without thinking, in another program and everything goes wonky Grin
