John Nelson and Margaret McLean Ballymena COMPLETED
« on: Thursday 12 November 09 12:21 UTC (UK) »

Hi all

I'm new to this and hope someone can help.

I'm trying find parental/general information on John Nelson and Margaret Mclean who married around 1900

At the time of the 1911 census they were living at 20 Alfred Street and were both 30yrs, so births would be c1881, they were also Church of Ireland

Children were....

Robert, Nathaniel, Samuel, John, Isabela, Edith, Eliza

Thanks Smiley

Lottie,
Welcome to Rootschat. The marriage of John Nelson and Margaret Ann Mclean was on 26 Dec 1900 in Ballyclug Church of Ireland, Ballymena.
John's father was either William or Nathaniel according to Ancestry Ireland. From the names of the children it looks as though it was Nathaniel McLean who married Isabella Graham in Kilconriola Church of Ireland, Ballymena.
Margaret's father was either George or Charles but without more information I am unsure.

Regards

Wow, I'm amazed at how quick you replied, thank you so much.

I think you are right about John's father being Nathaniel, although I don't remember why I thought I knew that.

Much appreciated Smiley

Hi,
I forgot the date for Nathaniel and Isabella's marriage. It was 7 Oct 1876.

Hi,
I have just rechecked my look-up on Ancestry Ireland and somehow I got the parents of Margaret wrong. The father appears to be Robert and there was a marriage of Robert McLean to Martha Thompson in Buckna Presbyterian Church Ballymena on 11 Jan 1878. Sorry for the confusion.

Regards
