Laurence Butterworth - Professional Vocalist

On my mother's birth certificate(1939) her father Laurence Butterworth (Laurence was born in Oldham in 1895) is down as a professional vocalist, she does not know a lot about her father but knew that he did sing, and won something that she called the "Manchester Rose Bowl", but I can't find out anything about this. He was a classical singer and possibly sang under the name of "Ivor Thomas" Does anybody have any information  Huh

think you could start by contacting oldham library. they may have local newspaper reports etc.

Laurence living in Oldham on the 1911 census ages 15. parents details given.
