I have a Joseph Durden who married a lady named Rhoda (born 1861) sometime between 1886-1898. Rhoda was born in Malta, and I cant find their marriage so I think they married in Malta. Joseph was a soldier, which explains that. They were back in England by 1899 where he died, and she registered his death - and promptly ended up in the workhouse. Are Maltese marriages online? 'Rhoda' doesnt sound a Maltese name to me, Im thinking SHE also may have been a soldiers daughter. I cant find her on the British census before 1901 though.
