My strange (?) idea for a short book
« on: Wednesday 28 October 09 19:26 UTC (UK) »

Hello,

I am thinking of writing a book, about my more exciting members of the family. The stories would be all fact apart from maybe some editing to make it flow better where there are holes in my research.

My ideas for short stories (only a few pages) long were:
1 - Paul Cutler - my unfortunate relative who died of Tetanus in 1876. Would have to pad out his story of his early married life and some inferred details.

2 - Richard Smith - another unfortunate ancestor who died after falling from a cart loaded with Gorse and breaking his spine. Again I would have to pad out information on his life.

3 - Clarissa Cutler and her spinster sisters - about their constant disappointments in life and surrounded by deaths of loved ones etc etc. Neither her or any of her 11 siblings married / had children

4 - Phoebe Pocock and her children - She had many illegitimate children and was in and out of the workhouse more than 600 times in 15 years. I have many 'colourful' descriptions of her personality.

That's about all I can think of at the moment but there should be more strange and interesting ancestors out there.

What does everyone think about this idea??

Matt

I think it's a good idea, especially as you are young and have years ahead of you to research and write up your tree.  You can always add to it as you find other interesting characters.

Thanks for the comments, Lizzie. I am bound to find out about more strange ancestors who lived extraordinary lives. One day I will write this book. But for now school has to come first  Sad

Matt, it's a great idea. Start building up notes on these people so you can fill the book with interesting and accurate details. You will have to sort of make the people 'come alive; in the reader's mind. Good luck. Smiley
