Three sisters, 1879, restore / colour please?
« on: Wednesday 28 October 09 22:30 UTC (UK) »

Hello,
Here is my great grandmother (on the right) and her two sisters. Can I have some clean up, and if that goes well, some goes at colour, please?
Thank you!

By the way, does anybody know anything about the funny uniforms the two on the right are wearing?

Hi fortmap  Smiley

I don't think they're uniforms, just identical overcoats/dresses.  I've seen this often, where two or more children in a family are wearing identical clothing.  Perhaps the parents got them as a job lot  Wink Grin

It's a beautiful photo, nice to have one so early in which you can identify the sitters, too.

Cheers

Yes, the numbers on the bottom were written by one of the sisters, and the names are listed on the back of it, which is nice. Smiley

Thanks for your effort, xinia. I think this is another difficult one!

Hi

I've just found these on my laptop and it's taken a while to find your thread.

I'll see if I can colour them over the next couple of days if you'd like  Smiley

Interesting image, isn't it Terry  Smiley   I'm surprised more people didn't do it.

I think I must have done mine last Friday but totally forgot about putting it up. I think that I might colour it today as the weather is so bad.

You seem to be following me about at the moment   Grin

Ah! I've not been around for a couple of days, and I've just checked up...

Magic, everybody!

Yes, Gadget, colour would be interesting, but don't put yourself out. I'm more than happy with the efforts so far.

I've nearly finished the colour one - just tidying up a few things   Cheesy

It's been a wet day in the Highlands!

Added - now I can't decide which one  Undecided Roll Eyes Grin

I've done a tiny strip of three and printed them. The left and centre ones look best.

See what you think - note these are just proofs

(something funny happened - it's not posted and just hung - try again!)

Now the file is too big - I'll have to go and compress them - back shortly!

They were 512kb so I've put  a bit of compression on them - as I said, these are just proofs!

Which  takes your fancy - if any  Grin

Oh wow! That's bloomin' marvellous!

I've just spotted that you can see the top of the chair behind the middle sister. Smiley

I think it's a bit late in the day now and my eyes are going a bit funny, as I'm thinking the one on the right looks better (though they're all great).

I'll tell you what, I'll come back in the morning and have another look when I'm wide awake.

Thanks ever so much.

Here are two versions of the one that you liked - one plain and one with some texture.  I'm on my travels again so won't have access to these files again for a while.
