alex Cameron Blair Atholl, Perthshire
« on: Thursday 29 October 09 08:57 UTC (UK) »

I am a descendant of the above and am seeking to find if any of his or his wife's relations still reside in Scotland as I would like to make some contact with them.
He married Ann Janet Nicholson
He was a miller of Logie, on the River Almond, near Perth. They married 27 Nov 1797.

Hi and welcome to Rootschat

Can I just clarify the dates above

Quote
He married Ann Janet Nicholson and emigrated to Victoria Australia in 1854.
He was a miller of Logie, on the River Almond, near Perth. They married 27 Nov 1797.

If Alex and Ann married in 1797 they were presumably born approx 1777 or earlier

If they emigrated in 1854 it would mean they were in their late 70's at that time.

Are the dates correct?

Hi Ev

It's supposedly Alex Cameron who is said to have married Ann Janet Nicholson although I cannot find a marriage on the IGI and agree it's probably the one you found

Could it be the son of James & Janet - Alex b 1812 - who emigrated and there is some confusion between wife and mother's names

Hi Ev

If the tree is correct & James died in Scotland and his son Alex died in Oz - no guesses as to who emigrated

Sorry for the confusion fellas, Seems he didn't emigrate, his sons did. Wedding day was right. They had 4 children, John c 16 June 1806 at moneydie, Isabella c. 1808, Newmill, Alexander   c. 24 Apr 1812 Moneydie and Peter c. 5 Nov 1816, Moneydie. The 3 sons emigrated in to Australia. There is also some confusion as to whether he was known as James or Alexander
