Petersen/Peterson Nee Clee/Hull
« on: Thursday 29 October 09 13:24 UTC (UK) »

Trying to find information on my G Grandfather:

Peter Frederick Petersen
DOB: 1875-+1 Born Denmark
Married Susan Petersen (Nee Bauldry)
Married at St John's Church, Nee Clee Caistor 21 Oct 1896

He was a Fisherman, I know that by WW1 he would have had to register as an alian, cannot find any documentation and I know that he changed his surname from Petersen to Peterson I cannot find any information or documentation to reflect this.

My G Grandfather died in 1917 in Liverpool and that Susan came back to the Hull area with possibly 1 son Edwin Peterson.

Can anyone help put some flesh on the bones?

1911 has a son Rodmon aged 9 b Hull Yorkshire and a son Edwin b 1909 b Liverpool
The family are living in the Toxteth Park district of Liverpool but they are shown as married 10yrs whereas it should be 14

There is no further census info available after 1911

Carole,

Thank you for this info.

I traced them all in Liverpool upto Peter's death in the docks on the 16 March 1917.   Then I believe Edwin and my Great Gran moved back to Hull.

Rodmond must have stayed in Liverpool - he married in December qtr 1931 to Margaret M Tierney

Marriage is indexed as Peteson on freebmd but is on Lancs BMD as Peterson

What was the name of Peters father on their marriage cert?

IGI at www.familysearch.org - age a bit older than census info

PETER FREDERIK PETERSEN   Birth:  19 FEB 1873  Christening:  30 MAR 1873   Rorvig, Holbaek, Denmark

Father:  JENS PETER PETERSEN   Mother:  TRINE PETERSEN

Carole,

I think that Peter Frederick Petersen may not have been truthfull about his birthdate etc.

On his Marriage Cert in 1896 he is down as aged 23 which + DOB 1873.
Death Cert obviously he would not have been able to give his age 1917 = DOB 1875.

On his marriage cert his father's name is Jacob Petersen trade Blacksmith.
Witnesses:  Alfred Henry Hatfield and Susan Jacobson.

I am hoping that the information you have will help me, I am thinking of travelling to Denmark sometime next year.

All of my research has been on Peter's fathers name he gave as Jacob Petersen.

Look forward to hearing from you.

That rules out the IGI entry then. There is no other IGI entry that fits

The 1871 census has a Jacob Peterson b Denmark 1847 living in Liverpool but he was a seaman.  Wife Mary 22 b Liverpool - no children

He can't be Peter's father - wrong occ and Peter was born in Denmark

Jacob Peterson seems to be a popular name in Denmark as the Scottish 1871 has 3 entries all born 1845/46 Denmark
