Migky,

I have had a look last night at the actual 1911 census and the whole of the Tierney family were registered as living at 20 Park Place Toxteth.

Maybe they lived above the pub?

Hi Keith

Just checked the 1914 directory and couldn't find George Tierney anywhere, nor was there a 20 Park Place or Grapes pub at that address listed Huh

I looked through all the Grapes pubs and his name didn't show up, neither did William Evans.
Could the pub have been closed?? Did the family move away from Liverpool?

Cheers

Mine was not from the census but Kelly's 1911 directory. Transcribed in English by English  Grin

Do you know when George and Annie died?
I'll check the 1938 directory.

Migky,

I did not take it as a dig, but it does confuse people and send them down the wrong track, especially if someone has transcribed a document wrong.

I understand.

Directories are compiled during the year and published, so I suppose the information could be just a little out of date, however I did just come across a burial entry that might narrow down the time the Evans's were at the pub

Cecilia Mary Evans buried at Toxteth Park Cemetry 19th August 1897 aged 5 months.  Address Grapes Hotel, Park Place.
