Logitech Wave Keyboard & KVM Switch
« on: Thursday 29 October 09 21:00 UTC (UK) »

I've used a Newlink KVM switch for ages to enable me to connect 4 PC's to one monitor, keyboard and mouse.
I've had a standard PS2 keyboard connected and also a USB keyboard with a USB-PS2 adapter both without problems.
Having spilt a large quantity of hot wax on my keyboard this afternoon, I ran out and bought a new Logitech Wave keyboard. It's USB just like my previous one, so I just unplugged the waxy keyboard and plugged the Wave in.
Nada!

I simply can't get it to work.
Right now, I've got the keyboard plugged directly into my PC's USB slot, but that's only good for working on this PC.
Any ideas on how to get my Wave working with my KVM?

daft question, have you tried booting all the computers it is connected to?
and seeing if any switch, did you load any drivers for the wave?
also might be worth unplugging all the leads and changing the order, i have had a switch before
that for some reason every now and again i had to swop the leads to get it working again,
or try connecting one at a time

Hi Les,
thanks for suggestions =)

Only the one PC connected right now (due to a lot of re-arrangement for a mahoosive fish tank).
Didn't need to install drivers for the wave, when connected directly to the PC it recognises it right away - there is a driver cd, but it's for enabling "the special keys".
But even having installed them now, it still doesn't work via the KVM.
I shut my PC down completely, which shuts down my KVM as it doesn't have it's own power source. Plugged in the wave, rebooted and... nothing.
I remember I had a similar problem with a previous keyboard, but I can't remember for the life of me what I did to sort it out.

I'll keep faffing with it LOL maybe if I plug it in and un plug it enough times it might start to work...

lol know how you feel re the fish tank, we have two large tanks 1 tropical and one cold, and NOW my dear wife has bought two oscars, so we have had to buy another 2 tanks, one for the oscars and 1 to match the other lol,
sorry that doesn't help your problem Roll Eyes as i say the only other option i can think of is to change the wiring round

to add after searching a bit, it seems there maybe conflicts between the wave and the kvm Sad

Ah, someone else who mixes electric and water Tongue
I think I'll probably have to end up going and getting a cheap wireless keyboard with no "extras" for the KVM and just drag that out when I want to use one of the other machines.
