Those districts are certainly listed on the 1851 census, if you scroll down the main page for Wales and choose Denbighshire you will see them listed and can choose to stroll through the images.

Alternatively why not tell us who you are searching for and we'd see if we could help.

Hi

They're missing from the 1841 and the 1851 for that area was not all put online/indexed until recently. I had a CD and had to plod through it (like the olden days!)

They're now online.

As Mary says, if you're having problems finding them, put the names, etc, up and we'll try to help.

One family is my WILLIAMS' who I can't definitely pintpoint in 1851.  Isaac WILLIAMS married Margaret ROWLAND in Ruabon in 1831.  Both say they were born in Henllan in 1871.  There are a few Isaac and Margaret WILLIAMS living together but I can't find one with the chidren to match the 1861 -

Ruabon, Denbighshire - RG9/4282/25/24

Isaac WILLIAMS   55   Farmer of 140 Acres Denbigh, Denbigh

Alice   WILLIAMS   13   -
Robert   WILLIAMS   11   -
Evan   WILLIAMS   9   -
John   WILLIAMS   6   -

everyone else gives birthplace as Llanrhaiadr Rabigh, Denbigh.

Any help would be wonderful please Smiley

Not conclusive but places and occupation fit better than others, plus the eldest daughter, also Margaret's age.

I wonder if he could have married two Margarets - 44 in 1861 means she would have been 14 in 1831 when you say they married, not impossible but worth a thought.

Also some servants (including an Evan Williams age 17 who appears to have been born in the same place as Margaret)

I would think this is the same couple in 1841 despite their ages being all over the place, they seem to be living in Llwyn - but it's doubtful that they would have married ten years earlier - do you have evidence that they did as none of the censuses are showing children older than Elizabeth.

I've got that they married on 4th June 1831 in Ruabon.

Their eldest daughter was Hannah bap 1832 - she married John ARNOLD in 1858 @ St Mary's, Ruabon - they have a "Mary ROWLAND" a "Relative" living with them in 1861.

Their next daughter was Lydia (my ancestor) who married George DAVIES in 1855 and then James BROWN in 1870.

I'd also be grateful if anyone can find the DAVIES in 1841.    Thomas DAVIES (1808 Cefn) with wife Harriet (1809 Ruabon) and children William (1831), John (1834), George (1837) and Susannah (1840) [all in Chirk or later Ruabon].

Many thanks again

I want to ask a question.  When Lydia married presumably you have her marriage certificate giving her father's name as Isaac.

How are you positive that her mother is Margaret Rowlands?

I know this doesn't prove anything at all, but I'm surprised there isn't a Lydia with either her parents or family in 1841, she's too young to be away.  Would she be about 7 years old?

There is a Lydia Williams HO107; Piece  1402; Book:  9; Civil Parish:  Llanfihangel Glyn Y Myfyr; County:  Denbighshire; Enumeration District:  11; Folio:  5; Page:  2 with a Richard and Mary Jones and family.  I also see a marriage of Isaac Williams to a Margaret Jones 26 January 1828      Denbigh.

There is also a Hannah Williams 10 years old who is a servant in the household of John and Mary Williams in Henllan. HO107; Piece  1402; Book:  5; Civil Parish:  Henllan; County:  Denbighshire; Enumeration District:  14; Folio:  16; Page:  8

There is also an Extracted entry on the IGI for the birth of Lydia Williams 4 November 1834 and baptism 16 November 1834 Groes Calvinistic Methodist, Henllan, Denbigh, parents Isaac Williams and Margaret Jones.

There is also an entry submitted by a user for the birth of Lydia Williams in 1837 Ruabon, with parents Isaac Williams and Margaret Rowland, BUT no source is given as evidence of this entry.

As I say absolutely no proof whatsoever, but something worth thinking about.

I'm away from my Ruabon and Chirk parish records at the moment so can't do any checks on that end of the puzzle but, if you are keen to follow them up via PRs, I can check up next weekend.

Chirk is on the 1841 and 1851 censuses.

I've not actually seen the marriage cert myself but a distant relative emailed me the information she's collected on the family and I'm just trying to check out how much of it is accurate.

It would be great if you were able to check up Gadget!
