Hex River Troop Disaster

I wonder if anyone knows anything about the so-called Hex River Troop Disaster. The most I have so far is that in 1914 a large troop train carrying a regiment of the Kaffrarian Rifles derailed on a steep downward bend on its way to Cape Town. Nine non-commissioned officers were killed. A monument to the regiment has been erected at the point of derailment.

On the CWGC site some of the names listed under King Williams Town Cemetary may be connected with the incident you mention. 

It seems that 12 were killed and 120 injured.  There is a brief account here:
