Going slightly potty over this one.
Caroline married George WIMBUSH 23 Feb 1875 in Rugby. Her name at the tiome of marriage was Caroline SMITH. Sadly George died 3 years later, so I've not got them on a census together. From the 1881/91/01 censuses I know that she was born in Ibstock, Leicestershire circa 1827. 1881 - RG11-3077-F29-P32 Rugby, widow age 53 1891 - RG12-2458-F66-P13 Bilton, widow age 64. Visitor Harriet Taylor, widow age 61 also born Ibstock - sisters? 1901 - RG13-2915-F45-P2 Bilton, widow age 74.
Seeing as she was 48 when she married George I wonder if she was previously married? I wondered if Harriet Taylor was Caroline's sister, I've followed Harriet on the censuses 1861-1901. Married to a John Taylor (but I don't know where or when), their first child born in 1854 in Warwick, but I can't find a definite marriage, and I don't really know that she is Caroline's sister - I had hoped by looking laterally she might lead me to caroline.
Can anyone help find the two ladies prior to their marriages?

I am wondering if she might be Caroline REVEL(L). There is an 1851 marriage of Harriet REVELL to John TAYLOR in Coventry (doesn't seem like the expected area, but not that far out) that I wonder if is "my" Harriet. Then there is an 1870 marriage of Caroline REVEL to Frederick SMITH and a death of Frederick SMITH in 1874 both Rugby. I can find Caroline and Fred on the 1871 census but not after that. Still seems late for a first marriage though...
Does it seem probable that I'm looking for a Caroline REVEL(L) c1827 from Ibstock? Does it seem probable that Caroline and Harriet were sisters? Or am I just trying to make facts fit in a vain hope?

In the 1901 census Harriet Taylor is listed as mother-in-law to Frederick (Dakes ?). RG13, Piece 1125, Folio 133, Page 7.
How does this fit in to the picture?

The only Caroline I can find in the 1851 Census born in Ibstock in 1827 (+/-2 years) comes up with the following entry and which may be relevant (ie Caroline was previously married to a John Smith and the daughter of a Mary Johnson (married name)).
HO107, Piece 2084, Folio 778, Page 52 Loughbro Road, Whitwick, Leicestershire Mary Johnson Head widow 47 seamstress Leicester, ? Edward Johnson son 10 scholar Leicester, Whitwick John Smith son-in-law married 27 coal miner Derby, Codnor Caroline Smith daughter married 24 Leicester, Ibstock Selina Smith gr. daughter 3 Leicester, Whitwick Cisley Smith gr. daughter 1 Stafford, Fazeley Samuel Johnson son 14 colliery labourer Leicester, Ibstock

These days, Bilton to Coventry takes about 25 minutes. Obviously it would have taken longer then but it's really not far, and well within the area I'd consider.
(doi -- will be in bilton tomorrow!)

Thanks Nigel =)
Unfortunately, she is on the censuses after "our" Caroline has married George. 1861 - RG9; Piece: 1969; Folio: 39; Page: 10 1871 - RG10; Piece: 2911; Folio: 32; Page: 17 1881 - RG11; Piece: 2770; Folio: 46; Page: 39 1891 - RG12; Piece: 2210; Folio 45; Page 42 So, she's out of the equation =(

Sorry, missed the posts from Hepburn and Annie. Hepburn - I've got to rule that Caroline out.
Annie - No, it's not too far out of the area, just more so than I'd expect - don't want to twist the facts to fit the story LOL

The Revel(l) explanation looks correct with Caroline baptised on 13 April 1827 and Harriet on 28 March 1834 in Ibstock.

In the 1861 Census Caroline Revel (born Ibstock) is unmarried and working as a servant in Leamington - (see RG9; Piece: 2220; Folio: 75; Page: 3).
