Hi,
I am hoping some kind person will be able to look at the parish register for me so that I can see if it holds any extra information.
I am looking for the details of a John Jackson marrying a Mary ? Berry in 1833 in Branston. Fingers crossed that some parents are listed!!
Many thanks,
Heather

Pre 1837 marriges do not include parents names, or ages just the bride and groom, thier status, whether of the parish, date and witnesess,
Occassionally one parent may be a witness though.
If they had children after 1837 you could get a birth certifcate which would give you the mothers maiden surname.

Hi Patrish,
thanks for the reply. As well as the parents names, (which I realise are not always present) I was hoping that there might be additional pieces of info such as which parish each came from and maybe a comment from the incumbent at the time. As you mentioned witnesses can also help tie in with the correct family. It is really just wanting to be sure that I have the correct marriage. Often I am sent "family history" which is wrong and just has the nearest and convienent dates that appear to fit. I like to check all avenues first before putting details on my tree.
Looks as if I will have to wait until my next visit to Leics.
Heather

Ok, found them in several census.
1851 has Mary incorrectly transcribed as Ann and Johns POB as Cronton John is a Waggoner. HO107/2091/637/16 Children are; Sally, 1834, born Branston Mary Ann, 1839 John, 1840 William, 1845 Millicent, 1848 Susanna, 1850
Able BERRY, aged 30, born c 1831, Branstone, brother-in-law is living with them in 1861.They have extra children born post 1851; Thomas, 1853 Caroline, 1856 RG9/2304/42/14
Is this who you are looking for?

ABEL BERRY from IGI, Christening, 11 December 1829, Branston, Leics Parents, JOHN and ELIZABETH Several siblings on Batch but no Mary
EDIT; On separate batch; Mary BERRY, 16 February 1812, Branston, Leics, Parents JOHN and ELIZ. Also on batch, Robert 1811 and Ann 1812 (double chr. with Mary)
Possible Marriage, submitted record; John BERRY/Elizabeth STEEL 08 April 1810, Branston, Leics
Matches perfectly with Mary as she is 2 years older than John on all Census.
