William Grey completed
« on: Friday 30 October 09 21:15 UTC (UK) »

I have a William Grey born about 1816-19 at Shipton Moyne, Gloucester. I have him on the 1861 census aged 45 married living with parents William and Hester Grey. There is a William Gray on the 1851 census also from Shipton Moyne married with two children aged 32 which may be him. I would like to find out who he married and what happened to the children after the 1851 census as I can find no trace of them. Also what happened to William after 1861 as he also seems to disappear.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Many thanks Pauline

Hi
The 1851 has an Emma Gray aged 20 born Shipton Moyne lodging with William and his children. I think this could be her:

1841
Shipton Moyne
William Grey 45 ag lab y
Hester ditto 45 n
Henry ditto 20 ag lab 7
George ditto 14 y
Emma ditto 12 y
Charles ditto 5 y

HO107 piece 362 book 10 folio 5

I'm not sure about George and Ann in 1861 but there is a possible for George on a farm:

1861
Brokerborough, Wiltshire
George Grey servant un 18 cowman Gloucs, Tetbury
RG9 piece 1278 folio 71

Hi Gardener and RCB,

Thank you so much for your help.
Yes I thought the Emma who was a lodger with William in the 1851 census was quite likely his sister.

Thank you for that site RCB. I have found that his wife was Caroline and the birth of three of his children, George Henry, Ann and Frederick. Amazing!!!!

Once again thank you both for your trouble. It is much appreciated.
