Is 'Malta' from 1911 census?- might be good idea to check again and make sure it's not a place that looks like Malta! Death certificate won't list place or exact date of birth so I'm not sure if certificate will help at all. Do you know the names of the parents? any occupation for other periods for the father? no other foreign born siblings? If it was an overseas birth the surname might appear with a different spelling making it more difficult to find. I found some Maltese births in a family I was tracing (slightly earlier, father in Royal Artillery) listed in IGI- www.familysearch.org.

Irish death certificate will not list names of parents either. Just name, date and place and cause of death (perhaps how long with that illness), age in years, sex, marital status, name of informant.
Added- yes very clearly MALTA!

following on from Dara's suggestion, I had a look for the birth of the youngest child - there's only one good match
Name: Alphonsus M Macneice Registration district: Limerick Record type: Birth quarter / year: Jul - Sep 1909 Volume: 5 / Page: 313
a cert for him would confirm Elizabeth's maiden name and should assist in confirming the marriage, although this looks like a good match from the index :
Name: Arthur M'Neice Registration district: Limerick Record type: Marriage quarter / year: Jan - Mar 1901 Volume: 5 / Page: 308
Name: Elizabeth O'Connor (same index details)

Hi Shane
Yes that's him thanks as my Dad had remembered Elizabeth's maiden name was O'Connor and Alphonsus (fonz) is quite an unusual name . So to get that Marriage cert I have to apply through the GRO - right ?
Thanks for your help !
you can order certs from the GRO - see : http://www.groireland.ie/apply_for_a_cert.htm
make sure to use the index details above, and ignore any other details on the form that dont apply (RSI number etc)

Agree with aghadowey but 1 question:
Could the second one read Dock Yard rather than Dock Ward?
Dara.

Don't think it's yard- thought Dock Ward might refer to that ward in Belfast Limerick.
OOPS- mistake corrected!
