Thanks, this is interesting as I just heard from someone in New Zealand that claims this Robert Miller went to Australia in 1850's, married someone else and started new family. I have not checked marriage certificate yet but have a marriage for Robert Miller and Jane Urwin 1847 in Gateshead Fell. Have you access to 1841 census ? Is there another Robert Miller of the same age apart from the one I have in Duckham Place, Gateshead with mother Isabella and brother Mark. ? Thanks for your help.
Lesley

I'm wondering if these Roberts are one and the same person. Robert Miller is the brother of my G Grandfather x 3 George Miller 1819 born Acomb, Ntld married to Eleanor Dixon. I am sure they are descended from John Miller 1782, Newbrough, wife Isabella Thompson. I have good documentation for Roberts birth and sure it is him on the 1841 census. Find him on 1851, couple of facts tally, place of birth and age and area they are living. so presume this is him. I Look for marriage, find one 2nd qtr 1847 married a Jane Urwin. Did not send for certificate as this is a sideshoot so cannot confirm. That must be my next step to see if his father is John Miller. Just curiosity really and to give info to this New Zealand researcher. Lesley

I must mention that I did have all this census info but didn't keep a copy of the originals, so needed to recheck. Let my Ancestry subscription expire. Thanks Lesley

I must thank you for your help and interest Ecneps. Further to my last topic, I have had further e-mails from this researcher in New Zealand and he now thinks that we do not have a connection as he believes that my Robert Miller died in 1855. He doesn't say why he believes this apart from to state that now Jane is stating she is head of household. There are two deaths of a Robert Miller in 1855,the Dec one I found on Bishops Transcripts of Gateshead Fell was too old at 70 yrs. But have not been able to find transcript of the other in March. Any ideas ? are there any MI sites or newspapers I could try. Thanks again Lesley
