Hankins
« on: Saturday 31 October 09 03:14 UTC (UK) »

I want to find out Richard Hankins Snr. wifes  full name..Does the church or parish records have this information ? or is it only stated as Anne ..like on the LDS and Ancestry records...

In the 1861 census John Hankins was residing at Hayley Hall, Langwardine Hereford... I found a Sr.Henry Lyttleton of Hayley Hall, who had connections with NZ.. and I dont think there was a spelling error ie; Hagley Hall.....does anyone know a Haley Hall in Langwardine  past or present?

Having established now that you are talking about Hagley Park, Lugwardine, I see that it formed a portion of the Longworth Estate and at one time was occupied by Arthur Hutchinson, brother of the owner of Longworth.

If you look at a website for Longworth Hall, Lugwardine today, you will see amongst other information that there is reference to 'Census'.  In 1851, Longworth House is occupied by a Harriet JONES, daughter of an Earl, born in Ireland and interestingly, she has three offspring with the surname HERBERT, namely Edmund, Mary and Herbert.

There's obviously a connection there, surely

Thank you Chillis, I will certainly look into that as the Herbert name comes into the family...through Hannah Maria Herbert ..born 1828 All Saints, Hereford..She married John Hankins...
The family moved to NZ in 1863.. and unfortunately I cannot find her anywhere there...I have searched most cemetries etc and the only person who may be her is a Anna Maria..but on her records it states.."unknown".I know she had a daughter Annie Maria, and I know where she is buried....but will keep searching.....thanks for your interest.....I appreciate it.

Glamis...looks like I'm up and running now...thanks to all involved....
Re..Hayley / Hagley Hall..I had a good look on the census form..and looking closely with a magnifying glass it could be either as you can see its been re written over in ink...So, I am wondering that maybe he, as in JH was staying there at the time..who knows...as yet..but I will make an effort to find out....and..Yes, I have seen that page on Sir.Lyttleton..and his title..he also had connections with NZ....maybe he and John H were good "buddies"  but I do know that from so called Hagley/Hayley Hall, is the last time JH was on an English census..as far as I know... after that there is no mention of them other than NZ....
That other matter re modify will be looked into.......
