I am looking for information on Joseph Samuel Nairn, he was convicted at the Perth Court and sent to Australia on the Blundell which sailed on the 13 Mar 1844 arriving in Norfolk Island (NI) on the 12 Jul 1844.
I am not sure when he came to Australia from NI but he married Clara Ann Watkins in Brisbane in 1862 and they had a daughter Susannah Margaret Mary Ann Nairn in Dec 1862, Susannah is my great great grandmother.
Samuel passed away in March 1893 and was buried at the Toowong Cemetery in Brisbane on the 16 Mar 1893.
I would be very interested to hear from anybody researching this line.
Thanks very much for that I will have a look. I am only relatively new to FH and this bloke has caught my curiosity as details he has given on his marriage certificate and then when his daughter was born were conflicting.
I am not familiar with this type of document so I don't know what information, if any, there would be about Joseph. It may be that you already have all the information that was available.
Do you have any idea of when he was born? It might help other researchers identify if he belongs to their family.
Thanks for that, I am unsure of his birth as he provided different information on at least 3 occasions, he seems to be a bit of a mystery and I am starting to wonder if I even have the right Joseph Nairn as dates of him coming here seem out as well.
The Court Case refers to Alloa as an associated place.(would need to see actual papers to fully understand reference.) In 1841 Census on SP Joseph Narin(Nairn with Soundex on)) is in Denny which is adjacent to Alloa. If sentenced in 1843 why doesn't shipping date of 1844 fit?
