Charles Brown Boston 1830

Looking for Charles Brown born, Boston Ma. 1830. He emigrated to Australia mid 1854, as a crew member aboard the ship Wide Awake arriving Sydney Australia, Dec 20 1854. From his son's birth certificate (Charles Alexander Brown, born 1860 Lamplough Station, Victoria, Australia) states his father as 30 years of age  born Boston, USA. Married to Barbara Speedie, Sydney, 1855. Would like to know where to start searching for his birth records. Have been stumped on this branch quite a while. Sad

Here is a possible record:

Charles Hazen Brown   M (Male)   Charles Hazen, son of Joseph and Abiah, b. 18 Feb 1831.

I found further information that leads me to believe that Charles Hazen Brown probably stayed in America.

Here is another possibility:  BROWN Charles Horatio, son of  Horatio G. and Abigail, Feb. 1, 1831 - Reading, Massachusetts

Reading is about 15 miles outside of Boston.

I also found that record on the 1880 census, unfortunately the person i want left the usa in 1854.  I can't find any charles brown listed on any 1830 census in Ma.  Can anybody help in finding vital records in Boston.

Does the complete crew of the ship contain any other info? Name of father?  Do you know where I can obtain a copy of that info please.
