Thanks for the reply's. Again, no Elizabeth, but I'm certain that this is the correct Paternoster.
Re.marriage to Jonathan May 1836. I was aware of this marriage, but this introduces a problem. Elizabeth had two children, John and Mary Goodwyn, both Paternosters who were illigitimate, born prior to May 1836. However, on the marriage certs. of these two children, they both give Father as John Paternoster. This seems to not be correct, as this is telling an untruth twice. I think the middle name of the Daughter - Goodwyn - maybe a clue. The Goodwyns were farmers, and perhaps were supporting the illigitimate child, hence no Bastardy Order.
Thanks for all your help.

I'm wondering if the baptism of a 2nd Mary on 1/1/1813 is a mistake by the vicar and should in fact be Elizabeth. The NBI shows the burial of Mary Paternoster aged 15 on 30/7/1826. This ties in exactly with the Mary who was born 2/9/1810, bp.30/9/1810 who would indeed have been 15 if she died in July 1826.

Thanks for all the replies.
Trish, Thankyou for the 1851 Census extract. This all ties in, as the Wife of William passed away around 1845. Mary, daughter is there, at the right age, but Son John is missing. I think he married in 1862. Perhaps he was away at the time of Census.
Annette,
Thankyou for your reply. I thought the same as you, that maybe Mary should have been Elizabeth. Mistakes were made, as I have found out during my research. My problem, at the moment, is that if facts do not tie in with what I think happened, then I assume a mistake has been made. The whole episode with Elizabeth Paternoster has been a bit shady, and unfortunately, I shall never no the truth.
Many thanks for your replies, this has given me something to think about. Nick Robinson
