based on finding Erskine with a Widowed mother called Mary and siblings Emma & Heber (male) amongst others in Hulme, 1861, this is his Family in 1841 before he was born ...

1841 -  HO107/814/12; Parish of St Sepulchre; Northampton District: 11; Folio: 36; Page: 24
'North End'

all state 'born in County'

Wm Johnson 40 Builder
Mary Johnson 25
Eliza Johnson 8
Emma Johnson 1
Heber Johnson 3 Mo

cant see them in 1851* ..... but they are in the Manchester area by 1861 - Hulme

neither matches the 1861 age shown for this man ...

possibly a maternal line maiden name - you'd have to work back looking for marraiges etc......

Heber was Noah's Great*2 Grandson if that helps  Wink
