Hi All.
I am looking for information on 2 sisters Doris Moore born 1906 England and Laura Moore born 1909 England.
Both are living with the parents George & Sarah in Los Angeles Assembly District 66 on the 1920 census. That is my last sighting of Laura.
Doris looks as if she is married & living with her sister Sarah Januska in 1930 as Doris Sumner. Earl Sumner her husband was born 1901 Washington. (His parents should both be born Washington)
Looking for a marriage for Doris and Earl.
Any information on Laura - possible death ? possible marriage ?

Hi Lisa.
Thank You. Sarah Moore (the mother) & all the children arrive Boston. Massachusetts 21 Aug 1913 from Liverpool- on way to join her husband George in Bisbee. Arizona. (They later move to Los Angeles).

Hi All,
Still looking for information on Doris E Moore 1906 England and Earl Sumner 1901 Washington. USA.
Possibly just married by 1930 census and in Los Angeles.

Could this be her:
1930 Los Angeles Census
Laura Moore, born c1910, England. Immigrated 1913. Occupation: Saleslady, Department Store.
She is shown living at 2432 Riverdale. On page 40 is Oscar Bush, born Ohio, parents born Germany. Mabel, his wife was born in North Dakota and her parents were born in Norway. Listed under them are their two sons.
On page 41, is their daughter.
Under this name is the Austin family. Then, Helen Wood, Adam Laidlaw, Dorothy Karner, Laura Moore and Alphonse Anselmo. They have various descriptions including wife, roomer, wife, daughter.
Laura is shown as daughter, but I'm not sure who the mother was supposed to have been.  With the exception of Laura, no one was born in England. So, perhaps this is your Laura?

Lisa I think you are probably right again. I remember looking at the scan you refer to and it did seem strange.
But now you have explained the short distances involved between all three it makes even more sense that it is her.
The parents definitely stayed in Los Angeles - father George died 20 Dec 1963 & Mother Sarah 12 May 1969.
I am pretty sure sister Sarah Moore/Januska & her husband Nelson also stayed in Los Angeles up until their deaths as well and never moved.
Probably a silly question but Laura's birth was Q4 Dec 1909 Whitehaven. Cumberland. I notice 3 deaths on SSDI which name Laura Moore born 1909 - 1 for Oct 1982 La Verne. Los Angeles and 15 Dec 1998 Marysville. Yuba and 16 Dec 1998 Oaklands. Alameda.
Would any records show whether this was a single person ?
