Difficulty reading the page no.
« on: Saturday 31 October 09 16:39 UTC (UK) »

The details for Moore Smarts death cert are hard to read.

Free BMD shows it as ---7a *

below is a part of it from FMPast. It's the one at the bottom  Lutterword being the district.

Any suggestions welcomed--poli Smiley

FreeBMDs image is bad but if you blow it up on ancestry it's a little clearer.

It's Dec 1855 Evie  Smiley

You could always apply to Leicester Reg office for the cert.
If you can't read the ref number.

The Register Office, County Hall, Leicester Road, Glenfield, Leicester, LE3 8RN
Tel: 0116 305 6565
E-mail: registration AT leics.gov.uk

Thanks to you all for replying. I've been uncertain about Moore for ages , he could be my 3 times grandfather and i am hoping this cert might throw up some answers.

Carol--thanks for the info re register office.

Hello Smiley  I ve had a look at the original too and after playing with the exposure using my software it certainly looks very much like 7a and 3 to me too.

I hope the certificate answers your questions.

Maybe you will tell us the outcome  Smiley

Update---have rung Leicester Reg office and they are sending me a request form and the lady i spoke to said as long as i knew the year, they would search for me. She also checked that they held Lutterworth details etc.  Will let you know if i can count him as my 3x grandfather.  Am hoping for some insight as to address at death and informant  --we'll see !   poli Smiley

Keeping my fingers crossed for you that he didn't drop dead in the street and no one knew him  Tongue

Got the cert---the only small lead was the informant--a James Pawley/Pauley.  On the 1841 Moore and his 2nd wife  have as lodgers a James Pawley and a John Weston--Jane the 2nd wife was a Weston before marriage--i have the 1st and 2nd marriage help from a kind Rootschatter looking at the Parish registers for me.

All the info i have found on Ancestry trees and the P. Registers give me every reason to believe that Moore was my 3rd gt grandfather.
But me being me, has always wanted proof positive [don't we all i hear you say !!]

i suppose i was hoping to find that his son Thomas my 2nd great grandfather who i can prove from marriage and death certs would have been the informant--dream on poli  Roll Eyes
