Samuel Willis 1846 born in Glatton?

Hi

Can anyone help please?

I'm having trouble trying to find the Parents of Samuel Willis born 1846 in Glatton.

The only information I have which is of any help is that he was married to Eliza Smith born 1850 in Elton. I don't have her parents.

according to the 1851 his mother was ann aged 40 occ. laundress
she was widowed at this time

John Wrighton 15 son in Law Glatton (could be Knighton .... )

should be able to see Ann back in 1841 ...... with a partner

nope, no luck with any permutation. Also cant see Sam's Birth Index entry - there is a Harriet in the PBoro Ditrict, right age - an option would be to get her Cert and see what Ann says about herself - former names etc ....


However, there is a John and Charles Kington in Glatton, 1841 of the right ages - but hasnt led me anywhere yet ..... parents John and Ann ...


unless, of course, it should be Knighton to match the comment above in the 1851 census ?

I'd just come to the same conclusion - they're in the 1841 in Glatton indexed as Kington. It doesn't help that Ancestry has put all these villages as Hertfordshire, with birth county to match!

So Samuel Willis' parents were William Willis and Ann née Wells. That was a struggle!

Not quite sure why the Knighton children in 1851 should have been described as Ann's sons in law ie stepsons, when they appear to have been her sons from her previous marriage. Given the 1833 marriage date there doesn't seem to be any doubt that they were her children.
