Hi, and welcome!
Not sure if you have already discounted these, but there is a
Robert McCreedy (with a y) from Londonderry on the Caledonia to New York in 1933, but he was married with Ellen, Joseph and Mary with him, so presumably not yours?

In 1936 another Robert McCready (different spelling) went on the Queen Mary to New York, embarking from Southampton.    He is listed as a physician, not sure what your Robert McCreadie did?

Sorry if they are definite no-starters but thought it worth a quick look just in case.

I think a key point might be the length of time a person had to wait to gain US naturalization. You could try looking for him on electoral registers with the address you have from the 1911 census as a starting place, unless you have a later address. They are usually found in local reference libraries.

The US Naturalization records for many areas including New York and Los Angeles are currently being transcribed by volunteers working on the Ancestry World Archives Project.  You can find more details by clicking on the Collaboration tag on the Ancestry page.  Volunteers who participate in the transcription process are given early access to the finished records.
