request for 1861 lookup for Walter Guthrie b1839 Fife,Walter may have married a lady called Agnes,unsure of occ.

Have you seen the possible marriage entry on IGI?

Walter Guthrie to Agnes Leask 1859 Leith.

There are also 2 children to this couple
Margaret White 1860
Walter Henry 1861

Sorry, can't help with census - no credits left for SP.

Hi Kirsty

I had seen the marriage entry and birth of dau Margaret W but missed Walter Henry,so thanks for that. At time of posting I was a bit unsure they were correct couple I was after but after further research decided they are.Walter,Agnes & Margaret W shortly after 1861 emigrated to New Zealand,all 3 died there,checked but cannot find Walter Henry in New Zealand. Walter became a fairly rich & well known businessman in New Zealand. I was hoping through 1861 census to find out what his occupation was in Scotland.

Walter Guthrie aged 22 Ships carpenter born Largo (Fife) living with his wife Agnes  23 b Lerwick their daughter Margaret White Guthrie along with John Guthrie 19, Brother, and Thomas Forgan, Brother in Law, all males employed as Ship Carpenters as was the Boarder, Thomas White.

Broad Wynd  may well date from 1439

They were living at 53  Shore at the time of Walter Henry's birth on 5th August 1861
