Look up please surname Carrig
« on: Saturday 31 October 09 23:38 UTC (UK) »

I am at a dead end on researching my family tree. I have a Michael and Anne Carrig in the US 1880 census, born in Ireland, possably around 1846-1852. No town listed,by family always said they were from County Clare possably Ennis. Census says they were married about 1868 and immigrated to US in 1871. Anne's mother is listed as Hannah O'Connor, age 75,making her DOB,1805. Any look up help would be greatly appeciated.

Hey,

Carrig is a variation of Carrick, Carrack,  Carrach, Karrick and various other ways of spelling it. It may be worthwile searching for them using various spellings.

If they originated in county Clare, then Clare library is the place to look

Fortunately it's one of the better ones and there's a whole bunch of Carrig's and Carrick's listed in Griffiths valuation  Wink

Hope that helps,

Ann
