Criminal Matter HO 47/3/61 Victim: William HARRISON
« on: Sunday 01 November 09 02:47 UTC (UK) »

Hi, seeking some assistance to locate further details on a criminal matter dated 1783, whereby the victim was William HARRISON:
Record Summary: Report of William Bureton/William Burleson, Recorder of Leicester, on William Langham, indicted (with Robert Weston, William Harbut and George Wehterall) at the Exeter Sessions in 1783, for Highway Robbery committed with force and violence and stealing 1/-, 2 sixpences, 1 handkershief, 3 keys and a tobacco box, property of William Harrison (but were unable to take a purse containing 21 guineas from his hand). Grounds for clemaency: had signed a confession before the mayor prior to the trial which was not produced in court against him, was given a very good character reference (by credible people) previous to his recent connections, his petition is signed by gentlemen of honour and credit who strongly argue his case.
Covering dates : 1784 June 4.
.
Regards Jason Harrison, New South Wales Australia
